Ann Holt began to seriously pursue photography as a hobby after moving to Salt Spring Island in 2000. She is primarily self taught after taking an introductory photography class at Camosun College, Victoria. Her particular interests are in close-up, and abstract, fine art style photography.
“I am very interested in the abstract beauty found in nature’s shapes, colours, and textures. I am always on the lookout for small vignettes of shape and colour that speak to me, wherever I see them, be it on the side of a building, a rusty old car, reflected in a puddle or a window. I believe that photographing only small parts of a subject captures the viewer’s imagination, allowing that person to expand the photograph into whatever they wish to have it be.”
Ann has shown and sold her photographs in the Alliance of Saltspring Artists annual shows, 2002 and 2003, the Sooke fine Art Show 2008, Photosecession 2004 and Photosynthesis 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
