Shari Macdonald creates impressionistic interpretations of the landscape by moving her camera during long shutter exposures in attempt to render her imagery with a deeper sense of atmosphere, energy, movement and emotion more akin to what she felt in the moment. With the ICM (intentional camera movement) technique visual details reduce and blur into simpler elements of colour, tone and pattern–often in unforeseen ways, creating a more painterly abstraction than a straight documentary style of capture. Shari feels that there is never a dull moment with the camera as she is continually surprised at the somewhat random results of photographing while walking.
