The 12th annual PhotoSynthesis photography show and sale will be held at ArtSpring on Salt Spring Island. This year, PhotoSynthesis opens at 5pm on August 20th and runs to September 9th.

Emilaea, 17, has been taking photographs since she was about five, and sold her first pic at 13. Concentrating primarily on portraits and macro photography, she uses a Nikon D90 and occasionally switches to Nikon film cameras as well. She has shown her work upon occasion and has sold her first image from the web site she set up herself.

Emilaea is entering her senior year in high school, and in addition to photography is interested in writing and music, particularly guitar and piano. After high school she intends to travel for perhaps four years – “seems like the right amount of time needed to find my feet….” she says,  and see where she can make the best contribution towards humanitarian efforts.

The Photosynthesis Group is looking forward to seeing and showing her work at the forthcoming show in August and September of this year.

Join Seth Berkowitz, Gillean Proctor along with Photosynthesis alumni Janet Dwyer and Steven Friedman in the Third Annual Signature Showcase “Best Of” Exhibition.

For this show Seth has created a piece called ‘Wish You Were Here’, which is a montage of 64 images from his continuing Random Noise Project. The idea is that these are the postcards that would not ordinarily be seen.

The opening reception is Friday, June 29th from 5pm to 8pm at ArtSpring.

The show runs until July 9th. In conjunction with this exhibition are a number of very exciting events, including a talk by Marsha Lederman and BBQ dinner presented by the Salt Spring Arts Council, and several noon hour sessions by the artists themselves.

The third annual “Fine Art Signature Showcase” is on, opening Friday, June 29th and running until Saturday July 7, 2012 in the ArtSpring Gallery. Representing a collection of Salt Spring’s finest artists, it will include works by Seth Berkowitz, Gillian Proctor, as well as former members Stephen Friedman, and Janet Dwyer.

“Two Expressions” presenting works of Chris Stackhouse and Ken Ketchum, will be on display in the Artspring Gallery from July 8-14, with an opening reception July 9 from 5-7PM

Shari MacDonald’s latest work is on display at Penny’s Pantry until the end of June. And Nirmal Dryden will be showing her work there throughout August.

Also throughout the month of June, Sam Lightman’s work is on display in the lobby and restaurant of Harbour House.
