Waiting On The Tarmac

Waiting On The Tarmac

Birgit Freybe Bateman

The title says it all: we are waiting for our plane to take off; the airline worker is waiting in the shade for something to happen. It is too hot for him to stand out in the sun and suggests that climate change is really happening. Of course it is partly happening, because of all the planes flying around the world emitting carbon dioxide.

The lines of the tarmac cement, the airport lines and the edges of the wing and shadows lend a linear aspect to the composition giving a graphic effect.
