My photo began with a dystopian wall (black algae on a white wall at BC Sugar, shot while working on a film set in Vancouver a number of years ago).
This image inspired me to present my technique at the Art! Vancouver exhibition where I had a booth in May of 2017.
Subsequently, as I painted the image (predominantly black and white), a controversial racist protest, “Unite the Right”, occurred and clashed with anti-racist demonstrations which happened on August 11-12, 2017. POTUS Trump supported the protesters and created great controversy world-wide.
Later on I renamed my painting “White On Black”, and I have dedicated it to the “Black Lives Matter” movement.
