Weathered Log

Taken on Wickaninnish Island (near Tofino) on a recent kayaking trip, I was struck by the purity of lines exhibited by the backlit grasses on this well weathered log. I have been doing black and white photography for over 40 years in both small, medium and large format. Modern digital methods have now replaced my darkroom, but I am still fascinated by the impact of tones, lights and shadows on the black and white palette.
