Wendy’s life as an artist has been wonderfully varied. After graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and her further studies at University of Chicago and Northern Arizona University, Wendy has created and produced highly successful and much sought after series of works in charcoal, oil, watercolour and photography.
Her years as an artist have seen solo and group exhibits in Toronto, Seattle, Victoria, New York, Miami, Paris and Salt Spring. As a business woman, Wendy has owned and operated The Artist’s Gallery in Oakville, Bayldon Hall Graphics photographic studio in Toronto, and presently on Salt Spring Island, where she has lived for the past 28 years, Horisong House Studio, ArtistsGallerE.com and WARosierPhotography.com
As a photographer, she worked professionally during the late 70’s with a Madison Avenue ad agency and her work for them was in many diverse trade publications as well as such consumer publications as Chatelaine, Madame and Toronto and Vancouver Calendar magazines. More recently, Wendy was one of the first six members of the SaltSpring Photography club and became its President (now Past President) in 2015 where creativity is nourished and flourishes
Most known for her Qi Series developed for her ‘Up Close & Personal’ show with Bob Rogers which she describes as:
“… what I see as the essence of the subject matter… flowers yes, but seen so
intimately that you can feel the heart, soul, and energy – the ‘Qi’ – of each blossom.”
She is please to be able to introduce at this year’s Photosynthesis something entirely different for her, the photocollage – ‘Dreamscape’.
