This work is a part of my “Roadkill” series which has been ongoing for a number of years. I’m fascinated by what happens when a dirty old bottle cap, tin can, or cigarette pack discarded in the street, is removed from the gutter and separated from its surroundings.
When cleaned up and placed on a pristine white background, it can reveal a beautiful jewel like quality. The damage from traffic and weather, and the scars from aging often leaves a stunning patina. And enlarged to this degree, a photograph is created the likes of which has not been seen before.
