Clematis on Dead Beech
Timothy Gibbon
For the past 15 or 20 years this clematis, “The President”, has been climbing our weeping beech, whose roots have been somewhat compromised and has been slowly dying. Untended, its flowers are high up, now complemented by tufts of moss. I photograph it each year in order to see it, but soon we anticipate the structure will tumble and The President will fall.
